Creamy One-Pot Beef and Shells
A comforting, easy dinner made with tender pasta shells, seasoned ground beef, and a creamy cheese sauce—all cooked in one pot for simple cleanup.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound (450 g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2–3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1½ cups milk
- 2 cups medium pasta shells (uncooked)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded mozzarella (optional)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
- Add onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for about 30 seconds.
- Mix in tomato paste, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute to deepen the flavor.
- Add beef broth, milk, and pasta shells. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Cover and cook for about 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and the sauce has thickened.
- Reduce heat and stir in the cheese until melted and creamy.
- Taste and adjust seasoning. Garnish with parsley if desired.
Tips
- Add vegetables like spinach, mushrooms, peas, or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
- For a richer sauce, use a splash of cream instead of some of the milk.
- Leftovers can be reheated with a little milk or broth to loosen the sauce.
This dish is best served warm and fresh while the sauce is creamy.
