Peach cobbler with canned peaches

Easy Peach Cobbler with Canned Peaches

A classic, comforting dessert that uses pantry-friendly canned peaches and a simple buttery topping.

Ingredients

Peach Filling

  • 2 cans (15 oz each) sliced peaches in syrup or juice, drained (reserve a little syrup if desired)
  • ½ cup sugar (adjust depending on peach sweetness)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

Cobbler Topping

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup butter (1 stick), melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare peaches: Mix drained peaches with sugar, lemon juice, vanilla, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Spread into the baking dish.
  3. Make topping: In a bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir in milk until just combined.
  4. Assemble: Pour the batter evenly over the peaches. Drizzle melted butter over the top.
  5. Bake: Bake for 45–55 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  6. Serve: Let cool slightly and serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Tips

  • For a more cake-like topping, don’t overmix the batter.
  • Add a pinch of nutmeg or a handful of chopped pecans for extra flavor.
  • If using peaches packed in heavy syrup, reduce the added sugar.
