People with this ear hole have

Posted on July 13, 2026 by Admin

If you mean the small natural hole or dimple near the front of the ear, it is called a preauricular pit (or preauricular sinus).

People with a preauricular pit typically:

  • Have it from birth — it forms during early development of the ear.
  • Usually have no symptoms and live normally without any treatment.
  • May occasionally get infections, causing redness, swelling, pain, discharge, or a small lump near the opening.
  • May develop a cyst under the skin if the tract becomes blocked.
  • Can have it in one or both ears.
  • May have a family pattern, because some cases are inherited.

There are many myths online claiming that people with this ear hole have special abilities or certain personality traits, but there is no scientific evidence for those claims. It is simply a variation in ear development.

If the hole becomes repeatedly infected, a doctor (usually an ENT specialist) can evaluate it; in some cases, the tiny tract can be surgically removed to prevent recurring infections.
