My Nana’s 2-Minute Hack to Make Dusty Blinds Look Cleaner
There’s no magic trick that removes years of dust with zero effort, but a simple method can make routine blind cleaning much faster.
What you need:
- A pair of old socks (or microfiber cloths)
- Warm water
- A small amount of mild dish soap (optional)
How it works:
- Put a sock over your hand
- A clean microfiber sock or old cotton sock works well because it traps dust.
- Lightly dampen it
- Use a little water—avoid soaking the blinds, especially wooden blinds.
- Wipe each slat
- Run your fingers along the slats to pick up dust from both sides at once.
- Dry afterward
- Use a dry cloth to prevent streaks or water marks.
Extra tips:
- Use a vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment for heavily dusty blinds.
- Clean blinds regularly with a quick dusting to prevent buildup.
- For greasy kitchen blinds, a little mild soap can help loosen residue.
This won’t replace a deep clean for very dirty blinds, but it’s a quick way to keep them looking fresher with minimal effort.
