How to clear your sinuses with nothing but your fingers

Posted on July 11, 2026 by Admin

You can sometimes relieve sinus pressure and help drainage using gentle finger massage, though it won’t physically “clear” blocked sinuses the way a rinse or medication can. Here are a few techniques:

1. Forehead (frontal sinus) massage

  • Place your index fingers above your eyebrows near the center of your forehead.
  • Apply gentle pressure and make small circles outward toward your temples.
  • Continue for about 30–60 seconds.

2. Cheek (maxillary sinus) massage

  • Place your fingertips beside your nose, just below your cheekbones.
  • Press gently and move in small circles.
  • Work outward toward your ears.

3. Nose and drainage massage

  • Place your thumbs or index fingers on either side of the bridge of your nose.
  • Gently stroke downward along the sides of your nose.
  • Repeat several times.

4. Lymphatic-style drainage

  • Use very light pressure to massage from the sides of your nose outward toward your cheeks and down toward your jaw/neck.
  • The goal is gentle movement, not deep pressure.

Other simple ways to ease congestion:

  • Drink fluids.
  • Use a warm compress over the face.
  • Try a saline nasal spray or rinse.
  • Use a humidifier if the air is dry.

Seek medical advice if sinus symptoms last more than about 10 days, keep worsening, or include high fever, severe facial pain/swelling, vision changes, or a stiff neck.
