Classic Sunday Morning Pancakes
Fluffy, golden pancakes are a simple weekend favorite. This recipe makes a cozy breakfast for the family.
Ingredients (Makes about 8–10 pancakes)
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1¼ cups milk (add a little more if needed)
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons melted butter (plus extra for cooking)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Mix the dry ingredients
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Mix the wet ingredients
- In another bowl, whisk milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
- Combine
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients.
- Stir gently until just combined. A few small lumps are fine—overmixing can make pancakes tough.
- Cook the pancakes
- Heat a lightly buttered skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Pour about ¼ cup batter per pancake.
- Cook until bubbles form on the surface and edges look set.
- Flip and cook the other side until golden.
Topping Ideas
- Maple syrup
- Fresh strawberries or blueberries
- Banana slices
- Yogurt
- Chopped nuts
- A sprinkle of powdered sugar
- Peanut butter
Extra-Fluffy Tip
Let the batter rest for 5–10 minutes before cooking. This allows the baking powder to activate and can help create softer pancakes.
Enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea for a classic Sunday morning breakfast. 🥞
