Many homemade weed-killing methods can burn weeds quickly, but the claim that they make weeds “never grow again” is usually not true. Most sprays only kill the visible leaves, while many weeds can regrow from roots or underground parts.
A common non-commercial approach is:
- White vinegar spray (especially on small weeds)
- Works best on a hot, sunny day.
- Can dry out leaves within a short time.
- May need repeat applications.
For long-term weed control:
- Remove the weed with as much of the root as possible.
- Use mulch or ground cover to block sunlight.
- Seal cracks in paths and driveways where weeds return.
Be careful with “strong” homemade mixes containing salt: they may kill weeds but can also damage soil and prevent desired plants from growing in that area for a long time.
